Ken and Ingrid Hanson are a husband and wife glass blowing team from the San Francisco Bay Area. They began blowing glass in 1992, and started collaborating on their work from the beginning. Since that time, they have developed several series of work which reflect their personal visions and interpretations of contemporary American Art Glass. Ingrid received her second Bachelor's degree, a Bachelor's of Fine Art emphasizing in Sculpture and Art Education, in 1996 from San Francisco State University. Ken, who also studied at S.F.S.U., received three Bachelor's degrees, the third being a Bachelor's of Fine Art in Ceramics. After leaving S.F.S.U., Ken and Ingrid worked as apprentices with an established Bay Area glass artist. During this time, they further developed their own senses of style, techniques, and skills in glass blowing. Ken and Ingrid Hanson enjoy creating traditional forms in glass, while using non-traditional colors and applications of color to create very unique, contemporary, and alluring works of art. Their work can be found in select fine galleries and museum shops across the United States and Europe. "It is the unpredictability of the medium of glass that inspires constant change in our work. By collaborating on our work, each new idea presents a multitude of possibilities for us to discover."
